TBH-GTE FCU ALLIANCE

Tampa Bay Harvest volunteers and their family  members are now eligible for

membership in GTE Federal Credit Union

GTE Federal Credit Union was originally chartered as an occupational credit union, which served only the employees of GTE Corporation, and the credit union itself.  In the early 1980's, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) began allowing companies unable to support their own credit unions to join an existing credit union. GTE FCU has a multiple common bond charter and through mergers and the addition of Select Employee Groups  GTE FCU now serves more than 1,300 companies. (A list of the companies is available on their website www.gtefcu.org )

Tampa Bay Harvest became involved with GTE FCU when they offered to become one of the sponsors of the 2004 TBH Sailing Event as noted in the preceding story.  When this credit union teams up with a group such as TBH they like to become involved with the group.  For example, they would like to conduct  food drives at their Branch Offices for the benefit of TBH.  Teaming up with the credit union however also benefits our volunteers who now become eligible for credit union membership.  As a member of the credit union, volunteers will become eligible for a host of benefits described in detail on their website.

The quickest way to become a GTE FCU member is to stop by one of their branches (a list is available on www.gtefcu.org).  I takes just $5 to open a share account (which is required for membership), and just $50 or a direct deposit/payroll deduction authorization to open a share draft/checking account.

If you wish to open an account please provide proper identification with the correct address.  This helps safeguard your membership and future transactions.  The following forms of photo ID are acceptable:

     Valid driver's license

     Valid State Identification Card

     Valid passport

In  addition a Tampa Bay Harvest ID Tag is required to prove membership in the organization.

If you prefer, the credit union can mail you a new membership packet, including the membership application and details on all the products and services you will have access to as a member.

For more information, call Member Services at (813) 871-2690 ext. 3401 or toll-free at 1-888-871-2690 ext. 3401.

Once a Member, Always a Member

Once you are a member of the credit union, you may remain a member for life, even if you terminate affiliation with the select group through which you originally qualified for membership.
